Statement
I wish to explore the contrasts and possibilities of domestic interiors.
I appropriate objects such as doilies, and use them as an axis to create objects that playfully question our perception of value. I am interested in the exploration of boundaries and crossovers of disciplines, from metalwork and silversmithing to printmaking. I use Photo-etching because of its’ ability to retain fine detail, and create depth within a piece. This has led to embossings and prints that suggest kitsch wallpaper, keeping with the theme of domesticty.
The consideration of space, and how the piece utilises it, along with light and shadows, help shape my decisions on form.
